AKB48 is a very unique, theater based, all-female music group created by famed songwriter/producer Yasushi Akimoto in 2005. AKB48 consists of 66 female members ranging from ages 14 to 26 (as of Sep. 2009). The group is divided into four groups - A, K, B, and Trainee. With the concept of "Idols you can meet everyday", the group practically performs almost every day at their own exclusive AKB48 Theater in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo found the band's new album cover while flipping through the pages of a National Geographic. The magazine sponsors a reader-submitted photo contest in each issue. one winning entry in particular caught Cuomo's eye. It's a shot of a dog named Sidney in mid-flight across a living room. When the band got in touch with the winning photographer, Jason Neely of Middletown, Conn., to seek his permission, not only did he give his blessing, he also revealed something surprising: according to him, "Sidney is a big Weezer fan."
Whether or not you thought the stage-storming by Kanye West was a planned publicity stunt or simply an accidental publicity stunt, you've got to agree that it's spawned a pretty hilarious meme. By now, you've no doubt seen this video that was uploaded to YouTube within about an hour of the VMAs. Soon the internet will be parodying things that haven't even happened yet.
At midnight June 12, 2008 Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would launch around the world, with it’s creator Hideo Kojima hosting a signing at Virgin Megastore @ Times Square, NYC. I was fortunate enough to attend the event and meet the man (and mind) behind the character we have bonded with over the years, Solid Snake. Approximately 2 months later I felt inspired to create the WereWolfCrew on METAL GEAR ONLINE (the live online counterpart to Metal Gear Solid 4.)
This Crew was originally created to give starting LEVEL players an opportunity to participate in SURVIVAL matches (because unfortunately, a lot of higher LEVEL players tend to kick members that aren’t at their ranking) MGO Clans like WereWolfCrew help combat against such selfish practices… and over time we have a few key members that have reached LEVEL 12 and even13. The amusement park company Six Flags is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it needs to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion of debt. Mark Shapiro, the New York-based company's chief executive officer, says the move won't affect the operation of its 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Six Flags says it actually had a great year in 2008. It saw 25 million visitors and posted record revenues. But executives are trying to lighten a $2.4 billion debt load that they say is unsustainable. The bankruptcy filing came after an earlier plan to negotiate an out-of-court deal with creditors failed. Six Flags shares have traded below $1 since September.
