I'm very excited to see how the act of posting videos onto the internet plays a major role in some of the movies that have come out this year...I’ m glad to see such a growing trend… because these are indeed changing times.. more and more people are uploading their own personal gems, moments, and experiences from life onto sites like YouTube and MySpaceTV.
As much as radio and TV would hate to admit it…. the internet is the future!... in fact it’s our nearest of futures (we have people uploading from cell phones now (not to mention live streaming on Japanese cell phones) digital cameras come with a "youtube" feature now as well ..ect. I like to think of "Video uploading" as one of our major bridges reaching out towards that future… our “internet” future. Here are three examples of video blogging playing a role in the overall plot of a film
George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (2008) – College filmmakers record and upload to MySpaceTV every detail of a massive and unexplainable zombie attack for future generations to analyze if any end up surviving
Step Up 2 the Streets (2008) – Street-dance crews upload your best routines (as well as their pranks brought upon to rival crews) to video websites like youtube as well as personal blogs and websites
Never Back Down (2008) – Street Fighters involved in the sport known as “Mixed Martial Arts” (MMA) upload their best matches to video sharing websites all over the internet, some even posting action caught on their cell phones.
